Students at Small Heath Leadership Academy are celebrating today after receiving their GCSE results.

School staff and parents have today been celebrating with students at the school as they progress onto the next stage of their education or training.

High-achiever Nabil was delighted to achieve a haul of top grades. The hard working student secured the top grade 9 in an incredible seven subjects. Nabil, who dreams of pursuing a science career, plans to study science subjects at A level.

Head Boy, Syed, achieved three grade 9s – in English Literature, Chemistry and History – and a further three grade 8s in Maths, Biology and Physics. Syed, who aspires to become a dentist or doctor, will study A levels in science and maths before planning to progress to university. The bright student was overwhelmed by his exam success and expressed delight at his results.

Another aspiring scientist who was overjoyed with her results was Sofia. She also attained the highest outcome in four of her GCSE subjects, achieving grade 9s in English Language, English Literature, History and Religious Studies. Sofia will continue her education by studying science at A level.

Enass Al-Ani, Principal at Small Heath Leadership Academy, said:

“Congratulations to all our students on these admirable results. The dedication and hard work from both our students and staff has been truly remarkable, and they should all feel incredibly proud of their accomplishments. I wish all our students enormous future success.”

Despite the disruption to learning over the past few years, exams were marked and graded in the normal way this summer, as they would have been before the pandemic. This means that the lenient marking and grading from last summer has been removed and exam results nationally have fallen to pre-pandemic levels, when teaching and exams took place under normal conditions.
