WELCOME from the

CHAIR

As Acting Chair of the Local Accountability Board at Small Heath Leadership Academy, I would like to extend a warm welcome to those of you visiting our website.

The Local Accountability Board will work in close collaboration with Star Academies, the Academy’s Senior Leadership Team and the whole Academy community to ensure Small Heath delivers on its mission of educational excellence – not only in terms of ensuring continuous improvement for the Academy as a whole, but also in terms of meeting students’ individual needs and developing their unique talents.

The Local Accountability Board will offer support and challenge to the Academy’s Senior Leadership Team, monitoring progress and ensuring that effective strategic and operational systems are in place. We will work together to make our vision to nurture today’s young people and inspire tomorrow’s leaders a reality, and ensure that the standard of teaching and learning is of the best possible quality.

We want all of the Academy’s students to have access to an engaging and knowledge-rich curriculum and a wealth of rewarding leadership and enrichment opportunities. As well as encouraging students to secure excellent academic results, we also believe it is important for them to develop good character, and through promoting the STAR values of Service, Teamwork, Ambition and Respect, the Academy will provide them with opportunities to make a positive and lasting contribution to their communities through civic and charitable action.

We will work closely with parents and ensure we are united in our aim to guarantee that every young person leaves Small Heath with positive memories, upstanding values, a sense of personal achievement and excellent prospects.
