Celebrations are underway at Small Heath Leadership Academy with the number of pupils achieving the top GCSE passes increasing by 10%.

The academy saw a 10% increase in the number of students achieving GCSE English and Maths at grades 9 to 5 (a ‘strong pass’), and an 11% increase in the number of students achieving GCSE English and Maths at grades 9 to 4 (a ‘standard’ pass).

Increases in passes in these core subjects have helped more pupils to secure their first choice of next steps, as they continue their education and training.

Hadhiquah achieved nine strong GCSE passes including eight grade 9s in Mathematics, English Language, English Literature, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, RS and Geography. In addition she achieved one grade 7 in Urdu and two level 2 Distinctions in Creative I-Media and Health and Social Care. Hadhiquah is looking forward to studying for A-Levels and is extremely proud of her results.

Mohammed achieved seven strong GCSE passes, including grade 9s in English Language, English Literature, Science, and RS. In addition he achieved one grade 8 and a Level 2 Distinction in Creative I-Media. Mohammed plans to further his studies but was still in shock with his fantastic results.

Zara is looking forward to starting her ‘A’ Levels in September, having opened her GCSE results envelope to discover grades including three grade 9s across all three
Science subjects, three grade 8s and two grade 7s. Zara was lost for words, totally shocked but really happy with her results.

Other students quoted the following on opening their results envelope:

“This is the most unexpected but greatest moment in my life”

“I am able to do anything now!”

“This is the most epic moment in my life”

Enass Al-Ani, Principal of Small Heath Leadership Academy, commented:

“I congratulate our pupils on their achievements, and also our staff. Together, their hard work and dedication has seen increases in progress and attainment in the core GCSE subjects of English and Maths as well as other subject areas, setting our pupils on paths for future successes.
